With so much going on in the world today, I felt compelled to write a column on using our voices to send positive messages. One of the great aspects of working for WWE is that we have the opportunity to reach so many people, not just on television weekly, but through our social media platforms. Social media in many ways has taken over a lot of the way we communicate in the world today, as it seems like we can gather information and interact with anyone, at any time.

It’s no secret that WWE is a global juggernaut that is featured in more than 180 countries around through our weekly television shows. From China, Japan, Australia, the United Kingdom, South America, Canada, USA and more, WWE has a way of leaving a huge fingerprint on the world. WWE’s massive reach worldwide is also measured by how the company continues to grow its social media platforms. WWE has 21.3 million followers on Instagram, 10.9 million followers on Twitter, 61.3 million subscribers on YouTube (one of the most viewed channels in the world) and 39 million likes on Facebook. That’s a whole lot of followers and influence! Every day, the numbers for WWE’s social platforms continue to grow and it’s truly “phenomenal”, in the words of AJ Styles.

With social media at our fingertips, the communication game has changed so much. Social media helps us build a following and send messages to our fans around the world. It also gives us a platform to reach out to people, use our voices to spread important messages, promote an event, and share our experiences and points of view. I’ve been fortunate enough to have built an incredible social media following myself with a combined 6.2 million followers between Twitter and Instagram. I do believe that with having such a large following comes a large responsibility to use my platform wisely.

This incredible ability to reach people at our fingertips also comes with the huge responsibility to send out positive messages and to lead by example. No matter what the subject matter is, I believe social media is an amazing way to interact with people from every walk of life in a positive way.If you are like me, you may post a selfie with a close friend like Beth Phoenix or my cat 2Pawz, talk about my love for WWE and NXT and gush over how wonderful your family is. I also have used my voice to speak up about matters that mean something to me, while still being respectful at the same time. I try not to reply to negative messages, and if someone is acting inappropriately towards me, I know I can ignore them and block them if necessary.I understand that one irresponsible message can be detrimental, no matter who you are. Good news travels fast. Bad news travels faster, especially on our keyboards!
“We gotta make a change.
— NattieByNature (@NatbyNature) June 9, 2020
It's time for us as a people to start makin' some changes.
Let's change the way we eat, let's change the way we live
And let's change the way we treat each other. You see, the old way wasn't working so it's on us to do
What we gotta do, to survive.” 2Pac

In a world where we can’t always control what’s happening, we can challenge ourselves to control the way we respond to what’s happening. That’s where the power is. We can use our voices in a positive, powerful way. I believe in spreading love, encouraging others, lifting people up and making a difference. We all can make a difference. Through social media, I appreciate that I can connect with people from every walk of life and that I can be the change that I want to see in the world.
