The next time you do the Legend of the Veil Voyage, the Pirate Lord might send you to decipher Sudds’ instructions. If so, you should expect to solve one of three types of quests after speaking with Sudds. One of the quest types is the Lying Map Quest.
What is a Lying Map Quest
The Lying Map Quest is a two-page quest depicting a top-down view of an island with Ancient symbols drawn on it. The locations of the symbols should match the locations of actual rocking paintings on the island. However, one of the symbols is not really on the island!
The quest pages will also have phrases written on them to help differentiate them from the X Marks the Spot Quests. Such phrases are:
Symbols all, though one feels false. But which?
Some tell Sudds the truth, yes, but the other…
Old symbols to see, but which one deceives?
A lie is hidden in these truths. Must find it…
How to solve the Lying Map Quest
To complete the Lying Map Quest, you will need to search the island for the symbols on your map. As you explore, you will find a rock painting that doesn’t match its symbol on the map.
When you find a rock painting that is different than its symbol, you have discovered the lie and should start digging in front of the rock painting. If you have found the right spot, you will dig up an Ancient Chest with the Veil Stone inside and complete the quest.
If you want to see easily which symbol is a lie, you can turn on the Lying Map Rock Paintings markers on your handy interactive map. Each marker will show you the actual rock painting at that location.

In case anyone else gets the one for Plunder Valley, and doesn’t just start the voyage over… The first map (edited) shows the general location on the island where the dig is, and the second one shows the specific spot, by the ladder climbing up to the shrine level.

Ahoy there! Thanks for sharing pirate 🙂 Plunder Valley is the last one we need to complete the set. We just need to grab a super clear and bright picture of the map. This will be helpful for lots of pirates!

Yeah, sorry. It was nighttime for us. I didn’t know if those two would get you what you needed or not. (that’s one of the reasons I added the arrow)

Thanks for the effort, but its not there for me at the ladder on plunder, checked your pic. Maybe its different ones now?

I guess it varies? I’ve found it in that spot on the map twice, and so did someone else. Good to know.

mine was in begin of cave south/southwest beach, a bat symbol was on the wall and there the chest was 🙂
