Where are the two fuse panels located? ›

There are two fuse boxes, one located near the engine or under the hood and the other is located near the driver seat. The car fuse box under the hood protects engine components including engine control unit (ECU), cooling fan, ABS motor and battery.

To locate the fuse specification chart for your vehicle or to learn how to change a fuse, refer to the "Fuses" section of your Owner's Manual.

Most vehicles have two fuse boxes, with one under the hood and the other in the cabin. You can usually find the other fuse box in the dashboard on the driver's side, but some manufacturers also place it below the glove box. If the interior fuse box isn't there, you can try checking the luggage compartment.

Here's how to replace a blown fuse:

Open the fuse box door. Inspect each fuse using a flashlight to find the one that is burned or melted (the working fuses will have a clear glass casing but the blown one will look cloudy or blackened).

Relays are commonly used to control high-voltage or high-current circuits with a low-voltage or low-current signal, such as a switch or a computer. The purpose of a fuse is to protect against dangerous conditions such as electrical fires and equipment damage caused by overcurrents.

The secondary under-hood fuse box is next to the battery. To open it, push the tabs as shown. If something electrical in your vehicle stops working, check for a blown fuse first. Determine from the chart on pages and , or the diagram on the fuse box lid, which fuse or fuses control that device.

Small fuses generally identify the element speed using markings such as F, M, T etc, whilst larger fuses identify the element speed using markings such as gL, gG, aM etc. Some fuses use terms such as slow acting, fast acting, motor rated etc.

A defective starter relay will prevent your battery from delivering electrical signal to your starter motor. Therefore, no matter how many times you turn the key, your engine will not start. When you turn the key, if the circuit is not broken, you may hear a click.
